Mediation - what's that?

Courts are the right instance for fundamental legal questions. But if the goal is to clear off conflict and reconcile interests, mediation can be the better approach. In mediation the parties voluntarily search for solutions which are acceptable for both. In doing so they are supported by a neutral third party - the mediator - who does not take decisions on their behalf.

The main task of a mediator is to support the parties with the definition of their interests and the development and evaluation of joint solutions. In the end the mediation results in a binding agreement regarding the settlement of the conflict which is accepted by all parties.

Some of you may now ask themselves: Why can't they handle this themselves?" Indeed, most of the time we can deal with conflict ourselves - that's the standard - but...
